Relation between Burkina and Ivory Coast

Alassane Ouattara, the president of Ivory Coast, came in power with the help of the French, but also with the help from Blaise Compaoré, ex-president of Burkina. When he was thrown out of power by the population of Burkina, he took refuge in Ivory Coast. He has just gotten the Ivorian nationality which protects him from extradition to Burkina.

At the same time Burkina is asking for the extradition of Guillaume Soro (president of the Ivorian parliament) for his implication in the failed coup d’état of last October. In a sort of compensation, the Ivorian government has sent back 2 accomplices in the coup to Burkina.

About 8.000.000 Burkinabé are in Ivory Coast for work and the number is increasing thanks to a good economic growth of Ivory Coast. Not sure where this will lead.

Honey from Burkina

At the end of March, it will be time for the farmers to harvest the honey of the 300 hives we have provided to them. APPA (Association pour des Petits Projets Africains) will be buying this honey at a fair price.

APPA is getting ready to condition and sell this honey.

Last Sunday Linda, Robert and I went to the “mare aux hippopotames”. Hippos but also many birds.

Proverb of the week

A clear conscience makes a soft pillow
Une conscience claire fait un oreiller doux

You must attend to your business with the vendor in the market, and not to the noise of the market
Vous devez vous occuper de vos affaires avec le vendeur du marché, et non pas avec le bruit du marché

Short blog this week. More news about the villages and the LAP next week.
